IntErLúNio is a Lisbon-based music project that began in the autumn of 2006. The first line-up was a quartet exploring the deep sounds of a bass clarinet, a trombone and a bass guitar, combined with an earthy tabla... and a soprano clarinet would also put in an appearance sometimes. Two years later, it became a quintet with the introduction of a trumpet. Although another instrument was being added, the sound became lighter, with a different sense of space, silence and breathing, the voices acquiring better balance in the mix. This project started as a vehicle for my compositions, but one that was open to what could come through, as I hope can be seen and heard in this first recording.
